LVRC Hog Hill 1 - Thurs 19th May 11

Mon 23 May 2011

Tim Brown rounded off a good display of break riding by sprinting home for a deserved 3rd place. Tim was just pipped to the finish line (halfway up the Hoggenburg) by an Eagle rider and one other.

Five North Road riders took advantage of near perfect conditions for an hour of Hog Hill fun. They were Tim Brown, Steve James, Steve Taylor, Del Evans and an unknown soldier (Andy Boyall) in North Road kit who arrived just before the start and departed soon after the finish.

The warm, dry and unusual for Hogg Hill, windless conditions made for a fast run race. Del slipped back into the calmer conditions of the DEFG race after about 10 laps. The unknown solider did make a short lived solo break doing some time on the front for the TV cameras but he soon also slipped back to join Del in the senior race.

After half an hour Tim and five others got away and soon a solid break was established and the chasing group could make no impact. This time Steve Taylor was on his best behaviour and there was no repeat of last week's Dunton antics when he dragged the peloton up to Tim's wheel when he had looked good for the win. Indeed both Steves spent a fairly uncomfortable time towards the back of the bunch grappling with the relentless accelerations required to maintain contact at every one of the bends. In the end they both finished comfortably in the main bunch but by that time Tim was half way to the podium after his impressive 3rd place.
