LVRC Hog Hill Summer Series 5 - Thurs 8th July 10

Fri 09 Jul 2010

There were mixed fortunes at the latest round of the LVRC Thursday evening series at Hog Hill. In scorching heat Chris Glithero started in the C/D group for 45 minutes plus three laps of the lower circuit and once hsi group had been given half a lap, Tim Brown, Richard Somerset, Ian Turner and John McDowall followed in the A/B’s.

After three laps John had the misfortune to suffer a front wheel puncture and using his renowned cyclo-cross skills he managed to avoid falling off. After twenty minutes a rider slid off on the tricky hairpin bend at the back of the course causing Tim to take evasive action to avoid the same. He was forced to take a lap out but was unscathed.

The A/B group quickly caught the C/D’s. Chris gamely hung on but he too punctured and was forced to retire. Three riders had broken away from the C/D group on the first lap, and despite some vigorous chasing from Ian, Tim and a few others they were never seen again.

In the sprint for fourth and up the hill, Richard who had sat on the whole race, came second (overall firth and second A cat) to perennial Hog Hill star Dave Farrow from the Eagle RC. Tin was ninth and Ian twelfth.
